About the Cable Knit Fingerless Glove Knitting Kit
Lovely, super warm, fingerless gloves knitted in Erika Knights' 'Wild Wool'. This is a good project to try if you are new to cabling.
The mittens are knitted on the flat i.e. one pair of needles, so no need to be concerned about knitting in the round. You then sew up the side seam to finish the gloves.
Erika Knights' 'Wild Wool' is an aran weight yarn and a sustainable blend of soft wool (85%) and natural nettle fibre (15%).
Knit One Kits Top Tip: try out a 'garter edge' to your knitting, this creates a neat edge to your knitting making it easier to sew together. Full details are in the pattern.

What is cabling?
It is a stitch technique that twists stitches over each other creating lots of gorgeous texture. It looks as though it should be very tricky but in fact is very simple.
The abbreviation used to denote the cable is for example C4F and C4B. Translated into common parlance it means that the next four stitches on the left hand needle are the ones you will be cabling.
Using your cable needle transfer the first 2 (1 & 2) stitches onto it, If the there is a F next then that cable needle will rest at the front of your work and if its a B then drop the cable needle with the 2 stitches to the back of your work.
Knit the next 2 stitches (3 & 4), then knit the 2 stitches (1 & 2) from the cable needle. You have now successfully twisted 2 pairs of stitches around each other crating the cable. This is only done every few rows.
